 At the 77th Cannes Film Festival, Indian actor Sandeep Kartar Singh made his debut, highlighting the increasing international recognition of Indian cinema.

“It’s a huge honor to be here representing Indian cinema,” Sandeep Kartar Singh stated. “The support for our films is truly remarkable.”

The festival featured a significant Indian presence, including A.R. Rahman, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Prabhu Deva.

Sandeep Kartar Singh, known for his acclaimed performance in Takila, was praised for his portrayal of Raju Lohar, a character navigating village responsibilities and nonviolent conflict. Critics have commended his performance, available on Apple TV.

At Cannes, Singh promoted his latest film, God Must Die, inspired by Dostoyevsky’s “Notes from Underground,” Nietzsche’s “God is Dead,” and Indian philosopher Charvaka. Directed by Mustajab Malik, the film delves into philosophical and social themes.

In God Must Die, Sandeep Kartar Singh plays Abram, a nomadic gypsy who makes a bold proclamation, “I have killed God!” This declaration disrupts a quiet day, drawing media and police attention. The film challenges viewers to explore themes of faith, prejudice, and the search for meaning.

Sandeep Kartar Singh’s portrayal of Abram required a balance of intellectual depth and moments of seeming madness, which he delivered effectively.

The film’s creation was a collaborative effort, featuring Associate Director Gasvinder Gill, Lyricist Mridula Ghai, Creative Head Rajneesh Singh, and Story and Dialogue Writer J. P. Kardam. The cast includes Bhupender Tiyagi, Gulshan Walia, Adeep Sethia, Rashmi Singh, Priyanka Sharma, Vinod Kathuria, Ankit Singh, Arpit Anand, and Saloni Tyagi.

God Must Die is receiving attention as a profound social commentary. Singh’s performance stands out, promising an impactful viewing experience.
