This honor is a recognition of Mithun’s over four-decade-long career, during which he mesmerized audiences with his versatile acting and dance performances. Starting with his debut in 1977, Mithun has evolved into a legend, starring in more than 350 films across various genres. His ability to transcend the boundaries of regional and national cinema has made him a beloved figure across India and beyond.

The award will be officially conferred during the 70th National Film Awards ceremony, scheduled for October 8, 2024​

This recognition puts Mithun in the distinguished company of other cinematic giants who have shaped Indian cinema. Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the honor, praising Mithun’s remarkable journey and how it continues to inspire generations.
